2018 Book-A-Month Challenge

This year, I decided to get back into reading by doing a book challenge, consuming a work of non-fiction every month! As an avid fan of fiction, however, I did not want to leave that out. So, I’ve allowed myself to read as much fiction as I’d like as long as I met my quota for non-fiction. Looking back, I wish I would have done an in-depth review and take notes on what I’ve been reading, so that is the plan starting for my August read. From there, I will write a full post reviewing that book and updating this post with my running count. I hope you enjoy!

I am currently reading, “Radical Inclusion: What the Post 9/11 World Should Have Taught Us About Leadership” by Martin Dempsey and Ori Brafman. I am also listening to “American Kingpin: The Epic Hunt for the Criminal Mastermind Behind the Silk Road” by Nick Bilton.

January: The Art of Intelligence: Lessons from a Life in the CIA’s Clandestine Service by Henry A. Crumpton

February: Churchill’s Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare: The Mavericks Who Plotted Hitler’s Defeat by Giles Milton

March: The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John C. Maxwell

April: Countdown to Zero Day: Stuxnet and the Launch of the World’s First Digital Weapon by Kim Zetter, No Place to Hide: Edward Snowden, the NSA, and the U.S. Surveillance State by Glenn Greenwald (Two for one in the month of April!)

May: The New Confessions of an Economic Hitman by John Perkins

June: The Dark Net: Inside the Digital Underworld by Jaime Bartlett

July: The Order of Time by Carlo

August: I missed this month due to preparing for my PCS (luckily I read two books in April)

September: American Kingpin: The Epic Hunt for the Criminal Mastermind Behind the Silk Road by Nick Bilton

October: The Little Book of Common Sense Investing by John C. Bogle

November and December: Got caught reading Radical Inclusion and Once an Eagle, but didn’t finish either unfortunately. First ones for 2019!

Fiction: Artemis by Andy Weir, Star Wars The Labyrinth of Evil, Star Wars The Revenge of the Sith, and Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader (Books 1, 2, 3 of The Dark Lord Trilogy) by James Luceno, Star Wars The Darth Bane Series by Drew Karpyshyn (3 Books) , The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
